I told Mike Wiegel this morning that because of the current heat, cover, lack of game and flights, hawking was just an obligation for me. I needed to get the hawks out. It was really warm walking the dog this morning. I told Mike as we left Whataburger, that I wasn't even looking forward to hunting. That's rare. How wrong I was.
I got to the woods and we had a great hunt. It was actually cooler, with a little north breeze. Cisco did not catch any squirrels, but we had a number of good flights, maybe 10. A pretty good morning. The squirrels were on their game and Cisco is just getting back into the groove. He followed well when he needed to, and was focused. He weighed in at 976 this morning, still quite high. Fist response is outstanding.
