As the Coulsons point out, squirrels are dangerous quarry. I fly Cisco without anklets, "naked," believing that it offers the best protection. I have flown him with squirrel chaps of two types, with just anklets, and now bare legged. This seems to be the best, but he's not immune. Today he grabbed a squirrel right away, and began to parachute down with it. I ran in to find no squirrel. Until later I decided I had imagined it. On the way back to truck after a very long, warm, and unproductive hunt, I saw the bite. Not bad, but squirrels are risky. Most squirrel hawkers play down the risk, but the Coulsons are spot-on in their analysis.
Falconry in Houston: The main page is www.chucksfalconry.com - There are links to the past seasons, most involving my red-tailed hawk Cisco. For the 2015/2016 season I am experimenting with "Blogger" for season updates. In the past I posted the season activities directly on my website. Please sign up if you want to post.
