H29 - A pre-molt cottontail

I will take Farrah out of commission for a few weeks. She is still molting and needs to fly a little leaner. I cut her weight in September, actually too early and she has continued to molt. Live and learn I guess. So I'll bring her weight up and fly Cisco until Farrah is done.

This morning began like most hunts this fall, but the temperature was down. We initially saw very little game. I pondered whether I should release Farrah to the wild next spring. On the west end of the grove field she started chasing bunnies. Not with her usual fire, but at least some decent flights. A cottontail broke into the open field. Farrah pursued, missed, and I followed. She flew back to the T pole and scored on the next flight, maybe the fifth or sixth of the day. It was a nice buck eastern cottontail.

I cropped her up with a DOC, small rat,  and the rabbit head.  I'll fly Cisco for a few weeks, then try a new schedule with the two hawks.
