It's wet out here. Cool, drizzly, and the squirrels were quick. I fed Cisco a chick mid-hunt. Note the bare legs.
It's hunts like this that make me wonder how they ever catch squirrels. This is a good place though. Practically unlimited area to hunt and tons of drays all over the place. One of the falconry goals this summer was to find three more squirrel woods. This one is a solid addition. There may be open areas to hunt with Farrah when she gets done with growing her tail feathers.
The previous hunt was on Sunday afternoon. An enormous murder of crows came to harass Cisco, but they finally left. We had chases, but no kills. This will teach me to lament that my hawks were catching too much game, which I briefly did last season. The falconry gods were watching, and rewarded me with this season. I also went out Sunday morning with Corby Turle, but Cisco was balky and distant. Acted like Farrah. Ha! So we left and returned later.
