Miss, miss, miss, and hit. A decade ago today Cisco was trapped on Roger Crandall's BC up in Fort Worth.
Cold, crisp, and clear today. At the truck I had a feeling we would go home with a squirrel, though this place is tough. But out in the woods, I wondered how Cisco ever caught any squirrels. Then I recalled having a run of about 11 or 12 in a row with him.
Today Cisco was panting in the 40 degree air. He had a number of good flights and misses before he spotted this little cat squirrel in a tree. The two pictures show his launching and a few seconds later with his third squirrel this season. I know falconers who catch three in a hunt. I'm happy with the way things are.
My team has now taken four rabbits and four squirrels this season. This is nearly 40 hunts..... Farrah at around 900 grams, is cooling her heels at the house pushing out some tail feathers. She'll be back in a couple of weeks, though not sure where to hunt with her.
